The Real Deal Tells Cops To Keep It Real
posted (February 18, 2020)

Last week we told you how Dijon Dawson’s Grandma, Carolette “Real Dealâ€￾ Gideon, started an impassioned campaign to ensure that the 8-year-old boy got all the help he needed after he was knocked down while crossing the road.

Those efforts resulted in her case being taken on by attorney Steve Perrera who invoked the underutilized “no fault’ clause to get the driver’s insurance company to pay up to five thousand dollars worth of Dijon’s medical bills.

It seemed that The Real Deal’s story would have ended there but, this afternoon there is an update in the case.  Wanting justice, Carolette’s lawyer advised her to visit the DPP’s office to follow up on criminal charges.  Since then, she has been told that the case has been reassigned from the officers originally in charge and charges could be levied upon the driver who hit the boy.  This evening we got the update from Carolette herself.

Carolette Gideon - Concerned Grandmother
"Well we took Dijon to Health Care Partners, we got some money from the insurance to deal with Dijon medical expense and the doctor said Dijon will be making a full recovery, he went back to school Monday, praise god and we're grateful for that the child is okay because that's the main purpose of doing what I'm doing you know. I placed charges against the inspector that was dealing with the case right, so he should be facing his disciplinary committee very soon and my last witness went in to give his statement today, to the teacher will be arrested and charged, hallelujah. I tried to handle it the best I could because I am the strength in this family, you know, I keep everything together. It has been kind of rough for me, I miss a couple days of work, my blood pressure went high but at least we're achieving what I set out to achieve, justice for Dijon Dawson."
