An elderly Canadian national is dead after events that police believe involve foul play. 78-year-old Canadian James Slemp - who lived off the Hopkins Road - was reported missing by a friend on Friday. And this morning police found his body in the Fresh Water Creek adjoining his homes. But it was no drowning. Head of National crimes Investigation Myvette told us more.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, NCIB
"On Friday, shortly before midnight, one Thomas Pou visited Hopkins Police Station and he reported that his friend, one James Slemp, 79 years old Canadian national who lives somewhere on the Hopkins Road was not answering his phone and was being reported missing as the last time Mr. Slemp was seen and heard from was sometime around midday on Friday. As a result, police launched an investigation within the area, conducting searches. A short while ago, his body was recovered in a lagoon, not too far from his residence, with apparent injuries to the back. The body is being retrieved at this time where a post-mortem is expected to be conducted tomorrow. Police are seeking one person whom they believe can assist them in this investigation."

"Yes, we do believe so, based on the injuries. He had some workers that were working with him, I do not know at this point in time, whether or not they were working at the time he disappeared or whether or not he did had those workers at that time."
