Alleged Arsonist in Custody of Pedro Police
posted (February 25, 2020)
Tonight, 31-year-old Armando Villanueva, a resident of the San Mateo area of San Pedro, is in police custody, and preparations are being made for his transfer to the Belize Central Prison. That's because police have accused him of intentionally lighting a fire at the Boca Del Rio Park, which did major damage to several storerooms managed by the San Pedro Town Council.

The best information to 7News is that the fire happened in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 22nd. These storerooms are part of the upgrades that the BTB and the Town Council installed while giving the park a major facelift. The storeroom housed chairs and other items for the park that the Council wanted to keep safe. But, on Saturday, someone lit them on fire.

The police investigated the incident, and yesterday, they arrested and charged Villanueva for arson. The cops think he was the mischievous culprit who did it. He has since been arraigned in the San Pedro Magistrate's Court, and he has been remanded to prison until May 29th.
