COVID-19’s Spread
posted (February 25, 2020)
The Ministry of Health continues to monitor the global outbreak of COVID-19, formerly novel coronavirus, which has now spread to 34 countries outside mainland China.

And while the World Health Organization has reported a decrease in the number of cases in mainland China, a rise in the number of cases outside of China is anticipated.

For its part, Belize's Ministry of Health is recommending no non-essential travel to the following countries: China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Iran, Italy and Japan. The Ministry continues to heighten surveillance at points of entry but is aware that individuals who may not be showing symptoms can also be infected.

And in the latest round of advice from the WHO hospitals have been advised to identify and prepare isolation areas while continuing training in terms of management of the disease.
