There’s grumbling in Belmopan after the plan for a new gas station went public. First off, the land for the project is across from Our Lady of Guadalupe School - and another school; second, the land is repeatedly on a buffer zone for the road. And, third, the person who’s getting the land is reported to be a well connected individual. Â
A release from the PUP says “The sale of four prime parcels of land designated as a green area and buffer is shocking enough, but even more so is the fact that the Mayor is authorizing the construction of a gas station immediately in front of the Our Lady  of Guadalupe Primary School, heavily trafficked by our children.â€Â End quote.Â
The Mayor did not answer our request for a comment. An environmental impact assessment aa reportedly done in 2019.
