37-year-old Luis Manuel Carter is at the Belize Central Prison tonight. That's after the judge handed him a 30-year prison sentence for murder.
As we told you, the judge has found him guilty of the 2016 shooting death of 30-year-old Dwayne Hyde. He listened to Carter's mitigation plea for leniency today, and Carter called one character witness to testify on his behalf today. He also heard a victim impact statement from the victim's wife, who told the court that both she and her 3-year-old son are traumatized because they were forced to witness his killing.
After considering the aggravating factors and the mitigating factors in this case against Carter, the judge handed down the 30 year sentence.
