Leaked Minutes Lead to Misgivings
posted (February 28, 2020)
And, so now while the NTUCB minutes have passed into the public domain - and have been fully ventilated in the press, Senator Smith says she would rather that it hadn't happened like that. She says the leak put her in trouble with her membership:

Hon. Elena Smith - BNTU President
"Those minutes were leaked before we were even able to inform our own members. So, we have not had a chance to really sit down, for those persons who weren't at the meeting. I wasn't there. So, for those persons or those leaders who were not there, we had no chance to look at those minutes and offer any input, any discussions, anything because the minutes got to the media before we even had a meeting."

"Personally, I would have preferred for it not to have been leaked because, as I said, I have a duty to report to my members. And so, when my members are hearing things on the media, then they become antsy, and they start questioning us. How is it that the media is reporting, and we don't know. We're not hearing from our own leaders. So, it creates some issues internally as well. It would have been best if the person who did so would have considered the way we function as unions."
