But, was this murder foreshadowed? There was a shooting in front of the very same mechanic shop on last Friday night, which landed the well-known figure, Brandon Baptist, at the hospital. Here’s what police had to say about that shooting incident:

"On Friday the 28th of February 2020, police visited the KHMH where they found Brandon Baptist with gunshot injuries to the body. Investigation revealed that he was on Police Street when a black in colour vehicle came to the area. A male person exited the vehicle and fire several shots towards his direction causing this said injuries. Thereafter the male person got back in the vehicle and they drove down Lindavista Street and fled from the area. Brandon Baptist is at the KHMH in a stable condition."

"Sir now we do know that Mr. Baptist is a known figure through the streets of Belize City. Was police patrols and monitoring heightened in the area? Was there any concerns of a possible retaliation with this incident?"
Hilberto Romero
"Well there are patrols in that particular area, again to deal with shootings that have occurred in that particular area. At the time Baptist was there when he was shot."

"So was there any concerns of retaliation?"
Hilberto Romero
"Yes, after any shooting there are always steps that are taken to avoid any retaliation in regards to the persons who are involved."
