Airwing Four Remembered At House
posted (March 5, 2020)

And, today's House Meeting started with a moment of silence and a remembrance for the Airwing 4.  Here's the Prime Minister and the Leader Of The Opposition:

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow - Prime Minister
"They in fact are to be lauded and hymned and praised because truly it is said that there can be no greater sacrifice than that a man or woman should lay down his or her life for the sake of their country. We shall continue to mourn them; we shall cherish and treasure their memory always. For, Madam Speaker, we are most conscious of the fact that these are our heroes, not just for today, not just for tomorrow but for always."

Hon. John Briceno - Leader of the Opposition
"And yes, let the truth be told. The events that resulted in their demise remains a mystery and we must unravel this mystery. We also must determine why for more than 24 hours, these men were unaccounted for. This is unacceptable and yes too many unanswered questions linger. For this reason, we reiterate our call for an independent investigation into this tragedy."

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow
"That of course, the investigation into this tragedy will proceed in a manner that will be absolutely transparent and absolutely comprehensive. I reiterate the fact that we have sought assistance for the purposed of the investigation from various countries including Mexico, the United States, the United Kingdom and Honduras. I was in touch with the char' de affair of the US embassy just this morning and he assured me that the state department was in the process of giving instructions to the department of defence. Personnel were already on standby here in Belize, so there will be the full participation of the United States in that investigation."

Some members also wore black to honour the four.  A press conference to brief the public on the interim report is expected to be held next week Tuesday.
