52 year old grandfather Micheal Barrera was murdered on Tuesday, just because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Today, police have charged his alleged killer. He is 20 year old Alden Lara, a construction worker from Antelope Street Extension - which is very near to the murder scene on Central American Boulevard.
Lara appeared in court today before Magistrate Khadeem Palmer - who remanded him until June 2nd.
Allegedly the killer was targeting a man who was right beside Barrera at a Chinese fast food establishment. That man saw the gunman and ran, but Barrera did not, and he was shot instead.
Barrera was a well known youth counsellor and father of 7 children.
