When Did The Chopper Take Off?
posted (March 11, 2020)

And, finally on the chopper tonight, lots of folks have been asking us about the apparent flip flop by Admiral John Borland, the Chief of Defence Staff.  Last week, he told us that indeed the chopper was in the air from 2:00 am - as witnesses had told us, but, yesterday he said that it left at mission time, around 4:00 am.  Here are both his statements:

Admiral John Borland - Chief Defense Staff
"That the aircraft was being prepared, they did their starting up routine, they did their test flights, the aircraft was in the air at 2 o clock but it did not deploy on the mission until around sometime around 4 o clock. I heard that story, it is very compelling, it seems very convincing but for now we have to stick to the evidence and to the facts that we have collected."

Reporter
"Could you address the inconsistency because originally we were told that the plane got off into the air at 4 and then in a subsequent interview that you did speaking about the investigation, you said that it actually got into the air at around 2. Why the discrepancy there?"

Admiral John Borland
"I would like to refute that. If I said the plane got off at 2, that clearly a mistake because from my recollection that plane got in the air sometime after 4."

Again, you can read the entire report from the Honduran Air Force and see the Ministry’s timeline of events at the Ministry of National Security website.
