Home Invasion Turns Stabbing
posted (March 12, 2020)

Tonight, 48-year-old Donald Enrique Garcia, resident of the Jane Usher Boulevard area of Belize City, is recovering from stab wounds he suffered while he was at his home last night. Someone barged into his house and stabbed him several times for no apparent reason.

Sometime before 8:00, Garcia was inside his Mudd Street home by himself, and one of the doors was opened. He was suddenly surprised by a dark-skinned man who barged in and stabbed him.

As far as investigators can tell, robbery was not the motive of this usual attack, and they are trying to find Garcia’s assailant. In a press briefing this morning, police shared what they know about the assault on the victim in what should have been the safety of his house:

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero - Deputy Head, NCIB
"On Wednesday, the 11th day of March 2020, at around 7:50 p.m., police visited the Belize Medical Associates, where they found Donald Garcia, 48-years-old, with stab wounds to the body. Investigations reveal that Donald Garcia was at an address on Jane Usher Boulevard, and the door of his house was open when a dark-skinned man entered the house and inflicted the stab wounds on him. He alerted his wife to the incident, and she then took him to the Belize Medical Associates for treatment. He is there in a stable condition. We are seeking one suspect in regard to this investigation."

Reporter
"Does he have any ideas as to who his attacker might have been, sir?"

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero
"Not at this time, he was there. The person entered and inflicted the stab wounds on him."
