Sport often contains its own drama. It can teach both players and spectators to be courageous, overcome adversity, and engage in unity. But while sports fans cheer on the players that taste glory at the highest level, what about the girls?
A group of athletes asked just that question today at the BAE Sports Summit 2020 an event in which Belizeans advocated for gender equity in sport. We spoke to Athletes Enid Martinez and Kaya Cattouse to find out about the challenges women in our country face in sport:Â
While the goal is to accomplish more representation for Belizean women in professional sport, it is important to note that skills learned in sports, even those played for a time, often translate into higher levels of confidence, higher levels of self-esteem and lower levels of depression.
