posted (March 13, 2020)

The fear of the Corona Virus - or COVID-19 - as it is also known has caused residents in countries with confirmed cases to flock to grocery stores to clean out the shelves of sanitary products to protect themselves against COVID-19.

Here in Belize, we’ve already told you how the prices of hand sanitizer, lotion and other antiseptics like alcohol are skyrocketing.

Well, the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry is calling on the business community not to engage in price gouging.

In a press release today, the Chamber says, quote, â€œThere have been multiple reports of price increases on essential commodities such as hand sanitizers, masks, and disinfectants, to name a few…the BCCI appeals to the business community to avoid any such reaction.â€￾ End quote.
