The Plan For PSE
posted (March 18, 2020)

The Education Minister also outlined the plan for the PSE which is now currently suspended. The first part of the exam had been scheduled for March 30th, and the second for April 30th.

Hon. Patrick Faber - Minister of Education
"The Primary school examination scheduled for March 30th and April 30th are not suspended and we will at a later date provide new information on these portions of the primary school exam. For our high schoolers who are concerned about CSEC examinations and our tertiary level students who are concerned about the CAPE exams, remember that these exams are regional exams and the regional body responsible for CSEC and CAPE, Caribbean Examination Council, is at this time considering adjustments to the exam administration period. Our personnel here in Belize in the Ministry of Education are parts of those discussions and once those decisions are finalized, we will make every attempt to have Belizean students and their parents know what is expected of them as it relates to these exams but we will tell you now that in fact, from Belize's point of view, there are several areas that we are not well behind in and because of the closure of school, we have indicated that there is no way possible for us to be up to the mark in terms of the timeline required for the current track that these exams would be on. So, quite likely this is the position, we won't continue with this current timeline and we await participation, we are participating now in fact in making a decision as to how things will be amended in order to deal with these issues of CSEC and CAPE."

Faber said school feeding programs which were already funded right through until the Easter break was scheduled to start should continue.
