Frontline Workers Face Discrimination
posted (March 27, 2020)

And while some of us are weighing whether we want to take a bus, some health care workers are not even being given that option!

Reports say that some buses are speeding right past health care workers who are trying to get from home to work or work to home.

There are also reports of discrimination against these frontline heroes at some grocery stores in the north and in the west.

Dr. Marvin Manzanero today said it has to stop:

Dr. Marvin Manzanero - Director of Health Services
"Our health staff has now come to be aggressed, at least in 2 communities and I need to say that because we are aware that in San Ignacio particularly and in Corozal. We're being told that health is not being allowed to go into the stores to get their groceries, we're being told that people don't want to sell them food, even though they are doing their routine work schedules and we have even issues with transportation with their taxi drivers and bus drivers are not allowing health staff to get on-board or are not being picked up at all and we really don't expect that to continue to happen because we expected to carry out our functions. We tested 2 people that were in contact with her through on her way to the island and those negative."

In a related story, the Cuban medical brigade of 62 is under quarantine for the next two weeks.
