When Will Financial Assistance Be Released?
posted (March 31, 2020)
At newstime, it was still not clear procedurally how those passes can be obtained. CEO Alpuche says the task force will open its own hotline to answer such questions but that has not been done yet.

As you can see, developments are moving faster than the details can be filled in - and that is bad news for those unemployed who lost their jobs in tourism and are waiting for that $150 dollar bi-weekly support.

Those that are able to have been checkin on the COVID19.bz website for the Financial Assistance form, but it's not there yet. We asked about it today:

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"The covid.bz website still does not have the forms available. I checked up to when I left my office. I know these things are not 1,2,3 to set up, but there is a huge level of human desperation and fright out there because of all these people in tourism who have lost their jobs and just need something to try and eat. Is it a realistic expectation that people will get their money by Friday as the economic tsars had promised?"

Judith Alpuche, Head, COVID-19 Nat'l Task Force
"I know the economic tsars are working diligently as the prime minister had said on this and certainly they had consulted a number of people including us because we do get money to people etc., so this is something that they are working on. It will be available on Friday on the website as well as in hard copies."

Initially, the promise was that the monies would start going out to eligible persons on Friday.
