Belize goes into a 30 day nation-wide state of emergency at midnight
tonight - and for a very large part of the population that means one
month of lockdown.
The State of Emergency and curfew has been declared to stop the spread
of the coronavirus. The Proclamation Declaring a Sate of Public
Emergency has been signed by the Governor General, and he also signed
the regulations which were circulated this evening.
Here - in a nutshell is what they say. First off, there’s a curfew from
8:00 pm to 5:00 am daily. And while there is no curfew during the day,
you can only move for the following reasons:

purchasing essential needs;

(b)
attending for medical or veterinary attention;

(c)
emergencies;

(d) be
an essential worker or employee of an approved business going to or
from work;

(e)
a home-health care provider of services to sick and elderly only,
going to and from work;

(f)
an essential worker acting within the scope of his duties,
including but not limited to security guards…agricultural or
factory workers
