And speaking of cell phones, we asked the COMPOL if he had seen a cell phone video made by his Deputy COMPOL with a special guest appearing from his Assistant Commissioner Alden Dawson. Chester had to smile on that one:

“Speaking of cellphones I’m sure you saw that very entertaining video from a narrator that sounds a lot like your deputy commissioner of police Mr. Edward Broaster. Was he talking about your commander of Eastern Division 1, ACP Alden Dawson?â€

“I know the night in question. There were a number of calls from I think neighbours complaining about C store or some store on Third Street, King’s Park and Mr. Broaster did respond because persons there were public drinking. When he got there, based on what was seen on the video Mr. Dawson was there.â€

“Well you here the man voice, Jules. I’m sure you know Mr. Dawson’s voice. We have looked at it. The video itself that Mr. Broaster showed did not show Mr. Dawson drinking. In fact, I didn’t even see Mr. Dawson in the video. I only heard his voice. We have looked at it and Mr. Dawson has said that he was there but he was not drinking as the people who live in the area were complaining. I have spoken to him and in a time like this we don’t want our senior command to be out there socialising. That has been told to Mr. Dawson and he insists that he was not drinking. And I’ve told him to refrain from going there or any other place at a time where people may be around who are consuming alcohol where they should not be consuming alcohol.â€

“However, it will inevitably be said so better I say it upfront. Everybody will say, well, we know that you and Mr. Dawson are friends and of course you will just give him a caution. But if it was me PC x, y, z, you would not be so forgiving.â€
Chester Williams
“Mr. Vasquez, you see I smiled. You can go and ask Mr. Dawson. Sometimes I myself feel sorry for Mr. Dawson. You know why? I have been extremely hard on him.â€
As you saw in that story, in January, Dawson - who commands the Eastern Division - was named 2019’s top regional commander nation-wide for his work in the Eastern Division.
