San Ignacio Council Had Contact
posted (April 3, 2020)
And so, while those are the concerns of the Belize City Mayor and his staff about patient #4, the staff at the San Ignacio Santa Elena Town Council are worried that they may have also been exposed to the virus.

Mayor Earl Trapp told us that his staff recently interacted with patient #4, and now, they are concerned that he may have passed the COVID-19 virus to them.

We spoke with him today via telephone from the town hall building in San Ignacio:

Earl Trapp, Mayor - SI/SE Town Council
"It is a concern and most of our staff working and basically panicking, but what we have done is we have sent the 2 people that may have been in contact with this alleged person that has the virus. So we are currently working on assisting Ministry of Health to basically map out what we can at this point."

"Are you able to share details about this interaction with patient 4 and your staff?"

Earl Trapp, Mayor - SI/SE Town Council
"From what I understand is that one of our employees shook hands with the allege infected person. That is one contact and the other contact was the contact with the cashier. So basically those people have been sent and home and it's just my hope that they are not infected. Hopefully the guy wasn't infected at the time. Like I said we are not taking any chances. We are basically taking prevention at this time."

We know that the Minister of Health Pablo Marin is also being swabbed and tested for COVID-19 since he was in the isolation area at the western Regional yesterday when patient 4 was being tested.
