Indeed, COVID 19 has remapped all our realties, and many of us find
ourselves cooped up with stress, paranoia, and fear. But as Manzanero
pointed out today, it only makes their work harder when we turn a virus
- which can infect anyone - into a badge of shame, treating a patient
like a perpetrator. Well, that's not how it works; and as you heard,
two COVID-19 patients are speaking up to end that stigma. Manzanero did
the same today:
Dr. Marvin Manzanero - Director of Health Services
"The information we are gathering is that some people are being. we are
starting to play a blame game, as is the patients that are positive
should be blamed for being COVID-19 positive. I'm not sure that is the
road we want to go because it could literally happen to any one of us.
I mean if were in contact with an asymptomatic carrier, or we might
ourselves be asymptomatic carries never develop any signs or symptoms
and just be passing it on to others, that's why I think for the last 2
or 3 weeks, we have been saying anybody remain on the street, you have
to assume they are COVID-19 case."
