Guat Fugitive Expelled To Face Murder Charge
posted (April 8, 2020)

7News has learned that a Guatemalan fugitive, who was wanted in his home country for the crime of murder, was caught in Belize and was today returned to his country to face charges.

He has been identified to us as Walter Jerome Rosales Garcia, and we are told he was caught several days ago in the Stann Creek District. He was living in the San Juan village under an assumed identity until he was busted by police officers from the Special Branch. We are told that he had obtained a full list of Belizean documents under this name, including birth certificate and social security.

He was fingerprinted and when that matched the records of a wanted killer in Guatemala, police later handed him over to the Immigration Department. He was charged with immigration offenses, and an expulsion order was granted against him. This morning, the Belizean authorities handed him over to their Guatemalan counterparts.
