Briceno Bex About Tests Turned Down
posted (April 14, 2020)
And while that is the politics of food - which is paramount in a time like this - the regular blue and red politics are also at play right now.

PUP Leader John Briceno who agreed to co-chair the National COVID-19 Task Force isn't happy. This weekend he took to the air with a major statement explaining his frustration, first of all, with the refusal of test kits sent to the central American Region by South Korea through CABEI. Here's how he put it:

Hon. John Briceno, Leader of the Opposition
"We've learnt that from March SICA had offered to Belize no less than 25,000 testing kits, but our ministry of health refused. Now the government is scrambling to see if it can get those tests, because what we have in stock now is very limited. Second: due to the lack of available tests, testing procedures and testing itself by ministry of health through its central medical lab has been grossly insufficient and there is now community spread of the virus at least in Belize District and in Cayo District."
