So while we hope the Sunday national lockdown is not a portent of things to come, Peyrefitte says citizens can adjust. Just look at the fact that everyone has figured out a way to get along without curfew passes, or as he calls them...:

"I have signed no sweetheart pass, which is evidence once again that nobody in Belize has a sweetheart and so there is no need for any. Everybody is faithful, everybody is happy with whom they are with at home at 8 pm and there was no need to issue any of those. So, if anybody says they have a pass badge signed by me, they are lying because I have signed none."

"Well, it depends on the situation. So far we have assessed many situations and what we have discovered is that people don't really need the pass because arrangements can be made without you necessarily having a pass."
