Fast & Furious After Curfew
posted (April 17, 2020)
And, as Araiga said, to keep COVID-19 at bay, Belizeans have to stay home.

But not everyone is following the rules, and last night two Santa Elena curfew breakers were sitting in a white pick up truck when they were spotted by police. They tried to evade arrest by speeding off but the cops pursued them. It was a high-speed chase that ended when the truck crashed into a fence. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams told us more today.

Jules Vasquez:
"Sir, was there indeed this high-speed chase in San Ignacio last night where police had to fire shots at a vehicle?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Yes, there was a high-speed chase but no shots were fired either by the police or the persons inside the vehicle. Apparently, the vehicle was parked in the area, the police went by to see who was in the vehicle and it sped off and the police pursued. The vehicle crashed into a fence and the occupants ran. Police know who they are, we're looking for them. We were not able to find them last night but we are still looking for them at this time."

Jules Vasquez:
"So it was someone violating the curfew?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Yes, it was."
