Teenagers Charged For Making Gang Videos

Two men and five minors have been charged with the crimes of  Producing a Video Recording to Promote a Gang-Related Activity.

It all started on Monday, April 20th, when 19-year old Jalen Babb along with three minors was charged for a facebook live video in which he wore gang colors and threatened those who were another colour.  Babb was also charged with the  Crime of being Unable to Provide a Reason for Movement Outside of Curfew.

Jalen Babb was arraigned at the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday when he pleaded guilty to the offense of “ Unable to Provide a Reason for Movement Outside of Curfewâ€￾. He was fined $2,005.00BZD which must be paid by 30th June 2020. Should Babb default he would spend 5 months in prison but he’s already there because he was also arraigned for the production of the gang-related Video to which he pleaded not guilty and was remanded to Kolbe Foundation until Monday, June 29th,2020

Then on Tuesday, April 21st, 20-year-old Lyndell PARHAM Jr.along with two minors was separately charged for the same crime “Using a video recording to promote a gang-related activityâ€￾

On Wednesday, April 22nd, 2020, Lyndell PARHAM Jr. was arraigned at the Magistrates’ Court, Belize City where he pled not guilty and was remanded at the Kolbe Foundation until Tuesday, June 23rd,2020,

All the minors in both videos pleaded not guilty and were all remanded to Wagner’s Youth Facility.
