posted (April 24, 2020)
Tonight a Belize City family of 3 is at the Belize Central Prison after police allegedly busted them with a high-powered assault rifle.

Reports to 7News are that at around 2:00 yesterday afternoon, several teams of police officers conducted a search at the home of 48-year-old Lavorn Hemmans, which is located on Violet Lane in Belize City. She and her daughter 19-year-old Taemar Hemmans, were at home when police found this Black, Colt M4 Commando Assault Rifle, known as a "Carbine". The weapon had no serial number on it and was loaded with a magazine containing 18 live rounds of .223 ammunition.

The cops confiscated the weapon and charged Lavorn, her daughter, Taemar, with the offenses of keeping an unlicensed firearm, keeping unlicensed ammunition, and keeping a firearm without a serial number displayed. They later found out that Lavorn's son, 30 year-old Lamar Flores also lived at her Violet Lane home, and so he was jointly charged with them for the same offenses.

All 3 were arraigned this evening before Magistrate Khadeem Palma, and due to the nature of the offenses, she could not grant them bail.

All 3 have been remanded to into custody until their new court date, which is scheduled for June 25, 2020.
