Using Union’s Input
posted (April 24, 2020)
And what about the KHMH's worker's union? They had kicked up a fuss from the outside of the the COVID alert, by threatening industrial action if the COVID-19 Isolation Ward remained within the KHMH.

Exposure was one of their primary fears. But they were dissuaded from that industrial action after urgings by the Leader of the Opposition and meetings with the Prime Minister.

Today we asked CEO Hoare how much say the union has had in overall pandemic management planning.

Michelle Hoare, CEO, KHMH
"As it relates to their request to be a part of the discussion they were always part of the COVID update and it just means that we invite them to our working group sessions and we've started that process including our representative from the union. But I just wanted to be very clear that the discussion with the union has always been very open. We've updated the union as much as we saw the need to update them relating to issues relating to COVID management. It's a part of our process to include our managers, our staff members including union and we've done that. We've had several meetings with the union prior to their concerns that they raised regarding staff measures and their risks for exposure to these types of situations so all we are doing now is strengthening that process."
