Two Weeks Without A COVID Positive
posted (April 27, 2020)
There are no new positive cases of COVID 19 to report tonight - and that makes it two weeks since the last positive case has appeared. Statistics produced yesterday show that 6 people have recovered, leaving only 10 active COVID cases in Belize.

Today in Belmopan, the Minister of Health said that there may be more persons recovered in the most recent round of testing - but with the number of cases in Chetumal exploding, Belize needs to remain hyper vigilant:

Hon. Pablo Marin, Minister of Health
"We have already 6 recovered. It seems that we are having some more today. We are awaiting for the last tests. Remember the person has to have 2 negative for them to be confirmed, but yes we are happy of the outcome, but we are still looking on what is happening around the country. You have Mexico just today I think they had another 50 news cases and this is constantly happening. Quintana Roo right next in border to Belize - it's an alarming amount of cases. So we need to be very careful of what we do asking the people in the north and to please don't go about to the Mexican side crossing over. With the US, you saw the amount of cases coming up. So definitely we are going to continue to have the borders lock, the airport lock at the moment until when those cases start to come down we can see a little bit more ease out of our country."
