We should note that the opposition's position is that in fact the Task Force Oversight Committee agreed to extend the state of emergency but did not set a time of 30 or 60 days.
But, whatever the case, the 60 day extension was passed by the four man majority in the House today - and it goes to the Senate tomorrow.
Speaking with the Prime Minister outside the house, he said he knew the PUP would not agree to the 60 days:
Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow- Prime Minister
"After the national oversight committee had made its decision, I was called by the leader of Opposition a couple of days, I think a day or two certainly, after the meeting and he did make clear that his party had in fact not supported the 60 day extension and so then they put out a press release. So, I knew that it would be completely smooth sailing but I didn't expect the lenghts to which two members resorted, I wasn't expecting that so I was a little bit dismayed."
