Reagent Arrived, Swabs Didn’t
posted (April 27, 2020)
Turning now from fires to COVID-19 tests….we note that some key testing supplies arrived on Saturday. But, the specialised swabs to take the tests did not arrive - and we asked the Minister about it today:...

Hon. Pablo Marin, Minister of Health
"We are lucky enough; the swabs should be coming in on Wednesday. They were not confiscated, but just hold on the side. The enzymes came in yesterday, so we are goo to continue doing our testing."

Reporter
"Sir, we had almost run out of re-agent. We saw that the tests had basically stopped from Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and then there was a little surge on Saturday and then a big surge on Sunday."

Hon. Pablo Marin, Minister of Health
"The tests were only stopped for one day. The situation with the enzymes, you know Amerijet comes in every Wednesday. Amerijet did not come in on that day, it went I think to Puerto Rico and came in until Saturday. So that holds our enzymes not to come in at that time, but yes we have the enzymes, it was only one day, but because of the reroute of the airplane."

Reporter
"With the testing equipment currently in country, how many people can we test?"

Hon. Pablo Marin, Minister of Health
"We can test according to what they mentioned to us up to 200 tests per day."

Reporter
"Per day for how many days?"

Hon. Pablo Marin, Minister of Health
"We can go on, but we are trying to get a new machine for us to have 2 in country, so we can rest one and use the next one."
