And, Manzanero stressed that the casual going about our business can lead very quickly to an outbreak. He says to contain COVID in the long term, Belizeans need to do more than just wear masks:

Dr. Marvin Manzanero, DHS
"When you make the mask mandatory when going out in the public? I think that's part of the regulations that is being considered. We make recommendations, but it's beyond the masks, let's not forget the other elements which I think we are sensing that people are starting to forget. I think people are assuming that our cases are going down, I put on a mask and I can go about my business, I can put a mask and go to the river, be traveling on the bus leisurely. Remember before you get to the mask, if you have no business on the street then stay home. Wash your hands; don't be touching your face, if you are ill then you cannot be out in the street. You should be calling us so that we can swab you as part of our influenza-like illness investigation. The mask becomes perhaps your 4th or 5th layer if you have to be out on the street."
