Rain cools Down Cayo
posted (April 30, 2020)

They say rain throws a damper on long weekends - but, tonight, residents of San Ignacio and Santa Elena are rejoicing after an evening downpour.  It’s a relief for the twin towns which have been battling with suffocating smoke from out of control forest fires for the past month.

And the Vaca Forest Reserve - where those fires were burning also got rain yesterday and, today, the Vaca was smouldering, but clear, no active fires could be seen by this drone.

In the early evening there was an active fire in Unitedville threatening a home, which the air tankers were trying too put out.  Later on those tankers had to be grounded due to lightning and rain.
