Commissioner Cautions Cops
posted (May 7, 2020)

Yes, a police officer was charged and he is not the first lawman to be charged for violating the state of emergency regulations.  It’s a problem for the commissioner of police, and today he put out a stern memorandum covering, quote, “non compliance with SI 62 by police officers.â€￾

In it, he stresses that officers are not wearing their masks and called it a breach of discipline.

This evening via phone, he told us what necessitated the stern memo:

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"I have been receiving a number of complaints from the members of the public that they are going to the police station and encountering police officers who are not wearing masks. I've also received some complaints that even out on the street when police officers are patrolling and engaging people, that some police officers are not wearing masks. We must understand that as the guardians of the law, we must also abide by the law. It is not a matter of do as I say and not as I do. As police officers, even more is expected of us, we cannot be saying to people to do something, when we ourselves are not adhering and so accountability is important, hence the reason I have now directed commanders to ensure that every police officer working under their command, abide by the law."

Those law enforcement personnel arrested so far include Coast Guard and Police.
