Guatemalans Had Weapons Stash In Santa Cruz

And, another big weapons bust was made further south in the Stann Creek village of Santa Cruz . On Friday night police went to the village where a Guatemalan man was said to be armed and dangerous. Police searched his home and found 3 loaded firearms - one fo them very high powered. Here's more from Myvette:

"Also on Friday sometime around 8:30pm police in Santa Cruz Village, members of the special patrol unit along with the police officer stationed in Santa Cruz Village conducted a search on a home and at that time, one Jiovannie Castro was present at the home and not give a satisfactory reason as to why he was at that specific home. As a result he was taken into police custody and taken to his home where a search was conducted. That search resulted in the discovery of one 9mm pistol which had in its magazine one 9mm round of ammunition. Also found was one 38 revolver, one 5.56 high powered rifle with scope, 101 .56 rounds of ammunition along with 2 magazines, one 158A smoke grenade. As a result, police have since arrested and charge Jiovannie Castro 26 years Guatemalan labourer of Santa Cruz Village for the offences relating to firearms and ammunitions found. As a part of the previous Dangriga operation as well police have since arrested and charge 4 persons including a minor for being a member of a gang so far as a part of the investigation in Dangriga."
