The Desolation of A Car Salesman
posted (May 12, 2020)
And while the protest at the western border continues one man is making protestations about being barred entry from Belize. Last night we told you about Guillermo Foreman, a Belizean who's stuck at the Chactemal bridge waiting to get into the country. Well, tonight he's still there with no prospect for entry, and no choice but to keep begging health authorities to let him in.

As we've told you the borders are closed and have been since March. Foreman told The Reporter that he left the US on May the 6th, knowing that Belize spent the month of April in the State of Emergency but not knowing that it had been extended for another 60 days. He arrived on Friday and has been stuck with his two vehicles at the southern foot of the Chactemal bridge for 96 hours now.

Now, the Belmopan resident remains stranded, banned from entering Belize, and hoping that he's not facing an extended period of sleeping in his car. In the meantime, he's depending on Mexican truck drivers to bring him food.

Still, he remains in high spirits, hopeful that if he agrees to undergo the quarantine measures that the Ministry of Health prescribes for his entry, he'll be able to come home. He says he has tested negative for COVID-19.
