And while there's no tolerance and great risks legally and health wise for border jumpers, the practice continues. That was illustrated today at around 4:00 pm when police arrested 5 Belizean men at the Calla Creek village's illegal crossing in western Belize.
The men: 35-year-old Jose Luis Uck,30-year-old Jorje Vasquez, 26-year-old Jovani Salazar, 19-year-old Luis Vasquez, and 42-year-old Lazaro Santos were found having crossed the border with contraband. Three of the men are residents of Calla Creek village while the other two, Salazar and Santos, are from Santa Elena and Benque Viejo respectively.
Arrangements are being made to swab them at San Ignacio's Polyclinic, after which they will be charged for illegally entering the country. They face 3 months in prison.
And while they may not have the Corona Virus police confirm that that they did have Corona beers.
