Corn Trucks Stuck
posted (May 15, 2020)
And one unintended consequence of the shutdown is those Guatemalan corn trucks. We've been telling you about all week? Well, according to our reports at least three of them will be guests of the nation this weekend.

As we told you, the trucks came in to the country pick up corn from various granaries in western Belize yesterday. That's after a three day border blocking protest on the Guatemalan side.

Some of them didn't finish their business until today, and we are told they could not get across before the border was closed. So, it is expected that they will have to stay on the Belize side of the border until Monday.

Those that did get across may be stuck on that side of the border since the Guatemalan shutdown went into effect at 5:00 pm. It is unclear if all cargo trucks can move freely in Guatemala during the lockdown.
