IDB Inspires Innovation
posted (May 15, 2020)
And while Taiwan continues to help Belize, the Inter American Development Bank in partnership with the Compete Caribbean Partnership Facility is helping Belizeans to help themselves. It's a social innovation challenge called "Change Dah Story" that was promoted by Beltraide and the Department for Youth Services back in October of 2019. It's aimed at looking for innovative ideas and business models to improve the future of vulnerable youths in Belize.

And today, 7 months and several economic and social disasters later, 15 finalists have been selected out of 77 proposals submitted in the IDB's "Change Dah Story' challenge.

And on June 6th, all fifteen finalists will compete in a live-streamed virtual pitching event where they'll be expected to present their initiatives and business models to a panel of judges.

The top three winning proposals will receive up to US$10,000 per proposal in training, mentoring and initial funding to turn their ideas into workable business models.

The finalists include names such as 501 Skills Compete, Check Yu Change, Full Circle Belize, Paper Boyz South Side Music Program, TING PAY, and Youth Advocacy Through Arts.
