Over 1,300 Arrested For SOE Violations Since March

Today on Ask The Experts, Commissioner of police Chester Williams discussed the ongoing State of Emergency arrests that have been ongoing since March.

In the two months since, more than one thousand persons have been arrested:

Dorian Pakeman, Government Press Office
"How many people have been charged so far in relation to state of emergency violations?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"It's around one thousand three hundred."

Dorian Pakeman
"Wow! Wow! And that's over the course of six weeks?"

Chester Williams
"Since the 24th of March."

Dorian Pakeman
"How many people were charged over the weekend and what were the different violations?"

Chester Williams
"Over the weekend I think we charge I think 63 different persons; They were charged for moving during the restricted period without proper explanation; There were breach of curfew; One person was charged for lighting a fire against the regulation and a number of persons were charged for not wearing a face mask."
