Police also had a report on yesterday's execution of a "busito" driver. 29 year old Oscar Vasquez was driving at mile 45 - when a passenger sitting behind him shot him in the head, jumped out of the van, and dashed off.
Today the head of national crimes investigation told us what police know so far:

"What we know so far is that the deceaesed departed the Belmopan market area with approximately 13 passengers sometime around 12:00-12:15pm and upon that area he was signalled to stop by a male Hispanic person who was on the side of the highway and in so doing, a male Hispanic person who was sitting immediately behind the driver then pulled out a handgun from his pants waist and then fired several shots towards the driver. Thereafter, he exited the van and both made good their escape into the bushes. We have not yet been able to establish a clear motive; we know for certain that robbery was not one. We also, during our investigation, knew of several complaints where the deceased was the victim and there are two matters before the court in which he is the complainant. Since the death, we have also learnt of several threats, so police are seeking one person at this time in relation to this investigation."
