CSEC Exams Moved To July 13
posted (May 29, 2020)
And while the next school year may start earlier, 4th form graduates from High School are being given an additional 2 weeks to prepare for their C-SEC exams. The initial decision from the regional policy-makers was that these exams would start at the end of June, going into the beginning of July.

Well, that position has been revised, and the Education Minister told us that they will start on July 13th, instead:

Hon. Patrick Faber - Minister of Education
"In July, we will engaged in administering the CSEC examinations. That requires the physical setting up up chairs and desks, having the students there, having invigilators, making sure that everybody is safe, making sure the classrooms are sanitized for every portion of the examinations that is being administered."

"CSEC and CAPE exams begin on July 13th. This is a revised position. People may remember that we had once announced that it would start in the first week in July. So, there is a revised position for the region, and we're expecting that those exams will begin on July 13th. So, this means that all students from across the country who signed up CSEC exams will be expected to sit those exams. I can only use this opportunity as well to encourage our students to do the best that they can. The exams that will be administered will be a modified version of what would have been, had we not experienced all of these issues with COVID. And by that, we mean that we will only look at - the CSEC people are now only going to look at paper 1 and paper 3, the multiple-choice, and the school-based assessment portions. Paper 2 will not be administered. And so, this is a new experience for those who are used to exam in 1 way. But we should take advantage of this and ensure that our students do well."
