There was a bench warrant issued for disgraced former UDP Minister Elvin Penner today. IF you don't know, a bench warrant means detain and arrest the named person ON SIGHT. It is issued after an accused person fails to appear in court as scheduled. And, Penner is accused in the Belmopan supreme Court in his ongoing trial for the manslaughter of 41-year-old Kenrick Myvette who he knocked down and killed in 2017.
So, why wasn't Penner in court? Well, via text message he told us, quote, "I was unaware that the courts had reopened and on top was not feeling well this morning. But nothing to worry about cause my attorney has made arrangements for me to go in tomorrow at 9. Some people just bad minded and obviously have nothing better to do. But really I could care less what the media or social media says about me. It actually helps me if I was to ever run again cause publicity is publicity." End quote.
As you heard, Penner says he will appear in Belmopan Supreme court tomorrow.
