Clipping the Wings Off A Drug Plane
posted (June 1, 2020)
Late last week, the Hawker Siddeley HS 125 narco jet which landed in the northeastern Corozal District was all the news. Well, tonight it's mostly scrap metal. Bright and early on Saturday morning, contractors put their equipment to work, pared off the wings, hoisted the fuselage on the back of a truck and carted it out of there by early afternoon, when it could be seen passing through villages on the way to the scrap heap.

And while the government has two fully functional ones just like theis which it hasn't been able to sell, this one may still have a good engine. That was left intact with the fuselage.

As you may recall, when villagers found it on Thursday, the engine was still running. But the landing gear had been damaged, so it was cut up for transport.
