BDF Sex Harassment Probe Concludes
posted (June 1, 2020)
Back in January, we told you about allegations of sexual misconduct concerning BDF recruits and the senior personnel tasked with training them. And today the Ministry of National Security confirmed that the investigations into the alleged reports of extortion, maltreatment, sexual assault, and sexual advances at Price Barracks in Ladyville have concluded.

The report says that the events in question, which at the time Brigadier General Steven Ortega referred to as grossly unacceptable, point to wrongdoing and negligence by personnel within the units involved, It suggests that while some progress was made in response to the victims of the alleged misconduct, what has really been highlighted is the need for more targeted organizational and strategic changes with The BDF.

It also proposes quote "standardizing terminology and policy implementation design across all military services" suggesting that a clearer understanding of behaviours that can and cannot be permitted along with the proper implementation of those standards would improve prevention, victim response, and accountability.
