A man was killed last night in a fatal hit and run accident reported after the 8:00 pm curfew. In happened on the Progressso - San Estevan Road at around 8:45.
Porfilio Escalante was riding a bicycle when he was hit by a vehicle which sped off. Escalante was flung to the pavement and experienced massive head trauma and injuries to his body.
Prorgresso villagers rushed to get him to the hospital - which meant opening the ferry. They did their best, but he was pronounced dead on arrival at the northern regional hospital at 10:00 pm.
So far, police have no leads on who was driving.
