Cop Charged For Breaking Glass Door, Fails to Meet Bail
posted (June 3, 2020)
Tonight, 30 year old Belmopan police Officer James Usher is on remand at the Belize Central Prison.

He was arraigned this evening on a single charge of damage to property. Yesterday, for reasons that are still unclear, Usher damaged a glass door at the Investigation Section at the Belize City branch of the Immigration and Nationality Department, located at mile 1.5 on the Phillip Goldson Highway.

Usher appeared before Magistrate Banner in Court #5 where he pleaded not guilty.

He was offered bail of $1,000 dollars, but up to 4:30 this evening when the court was about to close Usher's relatives were unable to reach in time to post bail for him.

So, he was then taken to the Belize Central Prison until tomorrow when he can post bail.

Usher is a Belmopan resident.

Police recorded statements from two eyewitnesses who claim they saw him bark the glass door.
