There was armed robbery yesterday evening at a hotel in Ladyville. The
cops were in the area shortly after it took place, and tonight, they
have 4 suspects detained.
At around 5:30 p.m. yesterday, police responded to a robbery in
progress at Estell's Airport Hotel, which is located on Mami Street.
When they arrived they found one of the owners, Dudley Estell,
suffering from an gunshot injury to his back. He was rushed to the KHMH
for medical treatment.
The cops later learned that at around 5:15, Estelle and his wife were
upstairs in their house when a man entered and asked for a room.
Shortly after that, 2 men entered, one carried a firearm. They demanded
money from the couple, and they started questioning the Estelles about
a safe. Mr. Estelle told them he didn't have any cash, and that's when
he was taken into a bedroom and then shot. That assailant then searched
the room and stole a few hundred US dollars in cash. The 3 men then
escaped from the hotel in a blue Ford Escape SUV.
The cops were quickly able to track the getaway vehicle all the way to
Hattieville, and they later detained 4 men. If and when those persons
are arrested and charged, we'll tel you who they are.
