posted (June 5, 2020)
On Tuesday night's news, we showed you that crazy robbery which happened in San Ignacio at the B&J Grocery Store. The entire crime was caught on the store's video cameras, and the face of one of the assailants was clearly visible.

Cayo cops have since tracked down one of the culprits, and he is facing several criminal charges for it.

He's Rudy Garcia, and using intelligence from the Special Branch, the cops caught him and recovered a handgun, which they suspect he used in the crime. Seen here, it is a .357 special revolver, which the cops later cleaned up. This weapon is a prohibited firearm.

Garcia was arraigned before the San Ignacio Magistrate's Court where - caught on camera - he didn't have much choice but to plead guilty to the robbery charge. The magistrate sentenced Garcia to spend 3 years in prison.

Garcia has reportedly refused to identify his accomplice the investigators, but the cops keep looking for him.

You'll remember that at around 5:20 p.m. on Monday evening, 3 people entered the B&J store. 1 of them was a legitimate customer; the other two were pretending so that they could surprise the owner and the on-duty cashier.

The men pretended to buy some items, then grabbed the owner, and forced him to kneel at gunpoint, while the other robber then went behind the cash register and stole $300.
