Chamber Says Cut Red Tape
posted (June 5, 2020)
And while the government is trying to attract US dollars with that offering, the Belize Chamber of Commerce & Industry says they can do more. They issued a release yesterday calling on GOB to, quote, "immediately implement suggested revisions to policies and procedures affecting the export sectors, in order to reverse the sharp decline in foreign currency earnings and radically improve the business environment." End quote. The Chamber notes that commercial banks have cut foreign currency spending, including personal and corporate credit card limits.

The Chamber says, quote, "Exporters of goods and services must be allowed to operate unburdened by bureaucratic red tape and/or fiscal policies that reduce their ability to compete internationally."
